As from today masters of any ship coming from countries mentioned hereafter will have to complete and submit maritime declaration of health form 48 hours prior arrival.

Australia, Mexico, USA, Canada, Chile, Japan, Dominican Republic and Panama.

The cruise ship "Grand Princess" will call La Pallice-Rochelle Port on 28th May 2009.

With 289.52 Mtrs LOA / 40.20 Mtrs BEAM / 2600 Pax / 1100 crew, she is the longest, widest, biggest cruise ship ever seen in La Pallice.

LE HAVRE : The premier french cruise port of the European west coast holds major assets to increase its value -

Le Havre combines the development of liners transit calls and turnaround operations. The cruise welcome centre offers touring and practical services.

New facilities will be added to allow turnarounds up to 1000 passengers, starting by spring 2010. By the end of 2009 direct TGV train connections between Le Havre and Paris Charles de Gaulle airport will enable easy transfers to/from the French capital.  

This situation is mainly due to an important reduction of imports of Iron Ore / Coke and Coal by the Iron & Steel Industry

La Rochelle-Pallice Port Authority released 2008 port statistics. Total tonnage raised from 7,580,749 in 2007 up to 7,904,276 (+4,27%).

- liquids in bulk : 2,584,679 mtons (-6,83%)

- solids in bulk : 4,340,850 mtons (+13,05%)

- general cargoes/other products : 978,747 (-7,21%)

- total : 7,904,276 mtons

Total tonnage reached 6,582,580 (+3,46%).

Despite the maintenance works at TOTAL Refinery during the first quarter 2008, petroleum products traffics have reached 12.3 MT (+2%).

As per the actual figures the Port of Dunkirk should reach 58,3 Millions tons this Year.

Taking into consideration the economical situation, and particularly the decrease of iron & steel industry the Port of Dunkirk expects 55 MT in 2009.

Please be informed that Port dues tariff of Dunkirk Port will increase of 1.8 % as from january 01st 2009.

Above increase may be an indication for Pilotage / Towage / Boatmen for which the annual meeting will take place next week.

The “Grand Port Maritime de Bordeaux” is officialy born on October 10th 2008.

The Corporate name “Port Autonome de Bordeaux” is substituted for “Grand Port Maritime de Bordeaux” with a new administrative management.

After four years at the head of Bordeaux Port, Mr Philippe Deiss the general manager of Bordeaux Port, has been nominated last September by the French Cabinet as new headmaster of the Port of Rouen.

Please be informed that new tugboat “VB ADROIT” just joined Boluda fleet

in Dunkirk. With a length of 30,3m, beam of 10,40m, speed of 12 knots,

this tugboat has a traction power of 70MT.

The new Dunkirk fleet is composed of 7 tugs as follows:

-          TEMERAIRE 57MT traction

-          CLAIRVOYANT 40MT traction

Please be informed that Mss Martine BONNY has been promoted Manager of the Port of Dunkirk.

The board of Dunkirk Port Authority has approved unanimously her arrival in Dunkirk.

Mss Martine BONNY was previously Manager of the Port of Rouen where she has achieved what she set out to do.

Mr Jean-Claude TERRIER is leaving Dunkirk to Marseille / Fos where he has been promoted as Manager of the Port.

The board of the Port of Dunkirk at its meeting last June decided to continue the LNG Terminal Project.

On July 03rd, EDF (Electricite de France) decided to pursue the study for the LNG Terminal of Dunkirk.

Final decision with regards to the investments will be taken end 2009.

The LNG Terminal is due for completion in 2013 with a capacity of 9 to 10 billion of cbm per year (4 to 5 MT).

This terminal would generate €20 Millions in business and land taxes and the creation of 50 direct jobs and 100 indirect jobs.

1.200 jobs are expected at the work site during the peak building time.
